Marketing 101 – Know the Canadian rules

Jim’s company had a new hot product that was flying off of the shelves on promo at his USA major accounts.  He knew it would be easy to replicate this in Canada and he included this in his forecast.  The Canadian promo didn’t get off the ground.

Jim was not aware that the hot product was not approved for Canada. Nor did he know the rules of running Canadian promos.  He was left in an over-stock situation and had to “blow out” the inventory at a loss in the USA.
